8 am – 12 pm (give or take) = Natural Ability work. Dogs and handlers of all ages welcome, but this is intended for entry level dogs who are new or still learning skills needed to pass the NAVHDA Natural Ability (NA) test. We will work on the following : basic obedience, recall, intro to birds, bird finding, bird pointing, tracking, and intro to water/swimming. What to bring : water for humans and dogs, training treats for dogs, long leash, collar, whistle, blaze orange hat or vest, weather appropriate gear, tick repellent, and boots. Sign ups will be posted on the NESC website. Sign up and payment in advance through the NESC website is required to make sure we have enough birds for all attendee dogs.
1 pm – 5 pm (give or take) = Advanced dog work. Dogs and handlers of all ages welcome, but this is intended for intermediate level dogs or above who have passed their NA test or AKC Junior Hunt (JH) test. We will work on the following : steadiness, whoa, backing, force fetch without the force, and water work / swimming. What to bring : water for humans and dogs, training treats for dogs, long leash, collar, E-collar or beeper collar if you have one, whistle, blaze orange hat or vest, weather appropriate gear, tick repellent, and boots. Sign ups will be posted on the NESC website. Sign up and payment in advance through the NESC website is required to make sure we have enough birds for all attendee dogs.
